NOTICE OF LIEN SALE OF PROPERTY

FOR NON-PAYMENT OF TAXES, UTILITIES AND OTHER MUNICIPAL CHARGES

 

Public notice is hereby given that I, Kathleen Hammond, Tax Collector of the taxing district of the Township of Jefferson, County of Morris, State of New Jersey will on Thursday, October 25th, 2018 at 10:00 am in the Jefferson Township Municipal Building (Council Chambers), 1033 Weldon Road, Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey, or at such later time and place to which said sale may then be adjourned, will at Public Auction expose for lien sale and sell the several parcels of land on which taxes, utilities and/or other municipal charges remain unpaid for the year 2017 and prior subject to N.J.S.A 54:5 et seq.  Said properties will be sold subject to redemption at the lowest rate of interest, but in no case shall exceed 18% per annum.  

All persons wishing to participate must make full payment in the form of CASH, MONEY ORDER, CERTIFIED CHECK OR BANK CASHIER’S CHECK prior to the conclusion of the sale. 

Payment of the amount due on any parcel may be made in the form of CASH, MONEY ORDER, CERTIFIED CHECK OR BANK CASHIER’S CHECK at any time before the sale by payment of the amount due as advertised together with interest and cost incurred up to the time of payment whereupon the impending sale thereof will be cancelled. 

Industrial Properties may be subject to the Spill Compensation and Control Act (N.J.S.A. 58:10-23.11 et seq.), the Water Pollution Control Act (N.J.S.A. 58:10A-1 et seq.), and the Industrial Site Recovery Act (N.J.S.A. 13:1K-6 et seq.). In addition, the municipality is precluded from issuing a tax sale certificate to any prospective purchaser who is or may be in any way connected to the prior owner or operator of the site. 

No representations are made by Jefferson Township or its agents as to the physical characteristics of the property, nor does the Township make any representations as to the quality of Title.  Any statements made by the Township or its agents shall not be construed as a representation.  If the purchaser has any questions regarding the above, they should seek independent legal advice.

IN THE EVENT THE PROPERTY OWNER IS CURRENTLY ON ACTIVE DUTY WITH THE UNITED STATES MILITARY OR HAS SERVED ACTIVELY WITHIN THE PAST SIX MONTHS, THE COLLECTOR SHOULD BE NOTIFIED IMMEDIATELY.
