Environmental Commission
Duties and Obligations
The Environmental Commission (EC) was created for the protection, development or use of the natural resources located within the territorial limits of Jefferson Township. The Commission advises the mayor and council, planning board, and board of adjustment concerning proposed development. Research, site plan reviews, and site plan visits are conducted in order to tender advice to the aforementioned parties.
Recommendations are made by the EC concerning open space, water resources management, air pollution, noise control, soil and landscape appearance, marine resources and flora and fauna protection.
In addition, the EC works with other agencies, groups, parties, and individuals to study conditions to educate and to disseminate information relating to Jefferson Township and its environmental well being.
Anyone interested in serving on this Advisory Board is requested to submit a letter/resume to the Council in care of the Municipal Clerk:

Meetings: 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month @ 8:00 pm in the Municipal Building. These meetings are open to the public and public comment and participation are welcome.
