RECYCLING SCHEDULE

    WEEKS OF JAN. 1, 2017 - DEC. 31, 2017:   SINGLE STREAM  


JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP BEGAN COLLECTING SINGLE-STREAM (ALL IN ONE) RECYCLING ON A WEEKLY
BASIS BACK IN NOVEMBER OF 2015.  EACH WEEK ON YOUR RECYCLING DAY YOU MAY PLACE 
BOTTLES, PLASTICS AND CANS AS WELL AS CARDBOARD, NEWSPAPERS AND JUNK MAIL AT THE CURB
FOR PICK UP.  YOU MAY MIX THEM TOGETHER IN ONE BIN, OR PLACE THEM AT THE CURB SEPARATELY; HOWEVER, THEY WILL ALL GET PICKED UP AND DUMPED INTO ONE TRUCK AND TAKEN TO THE
RECYCLING FACILITY.

Homeowner Construction Debris Disposal:  Disposal is allowed on Saturdays by appointment only between 9 AM and
1:30 PM with a maximum of one bed level pick-up truckload per week per appointment.  Appointments are limited to
2 per month with a maximum of 12 per year. Only available to Jefferson Township resident homeowners with proof
of residency.  To schedule an appointment*, call 973-208-6100 between 9 AM and 4 PM Mondays through Thursdays. 

No contractors or commercial businesses permitted.

   *NOTE:  During peak months, the construction list is subject to early closure as there is a limit of 40 appointments per week
on a first-call basis.

 Appliances and Metal Items:  Call 973-208-6100 to arrange for curbside pick up.

 Bulk Waste:  Furniture, mattresses, and other bulk waste are collected curbside on the second garbage pick-up day of the week.  Only one bulk item in lieu of one can of garbage will be taken at that time.

Acceptable Recycling Items

Plastic bags may not be used as recycling containers and will not be picked up except if they contain shredded paper!

Newspapers and magazines placed in brown paper bags, trash can or reusable recycling container. 

Junk mail, mixed paper, paperboard, and cardboard placed in brown paper bags or reusable recycling container.

Corrugated cardboard boxes flattened.  Shredded paper should be placed in a transparent bag (not black). 
 

Commingled glass bottles and jars.  Please remove lids and rinse prior to recycling.

Commingled metal cans (aluminum, steel, or tin).  Please rinse out all cans.

Plastic bottles/tubs with a recycling code or symbol marked #1, #2, #4, #5 and #7 ONLY i.e., soda bottles, milk and detergent containers, yogurt and sour cream containers.  Milk cartons, juice cartons, soup stock cartons and juice
boxes can now be placed in with commingled recycling. 
Please rinse out all containers.

 ALL OTHER PLASTIC ITEMS ARE TO BE PLACED IN HOUSEHOLD TRASH - PLASTIC CHAIRS, TOYS, BINS, FLOWER POTS, ETC.

 

Vegetative Waste

Grass clippings and leaves are not accepted at the Recycling Center. Recycle this waste to your compost pile or
place curbside for weekly collection beginning on the first Wednesday in April (4/5/17) and  ending on the
second Wednesday in December (12/13/17). 

Tree branches, limbs, shrubs, etc. less than 3 inches in diameter and not longer than 4 feet may be brought to the
Recycling Center during recycling hours only.

~~MORRIS COUNTY RECYCLING SERVICES~~

Hazardous Waste:  Motor oil and other hazardous waste must be taken to the Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority by
appointment only.  Call 973-829-8006 for information and hours of operation.

Tires:   Passenger tires are now accepted at the Recycling Center.  There is a fee of $4.00/tire up to 19" with no rim. 
           No cash accepted at Recycling Center.  Check only with proof of residency.

E-Waste: 
TV's, Computers, Monitors, etc. must be brought to the Recycling Center.  Our garbage hauler is not allowed to
                   pick up E-Waste. 



 


 

Holidays:  The Garbage Contractor observes the following Holidays:  Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year?s Day,
                  Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day. 

 

Clothing Recycling Bins

 

The Clothing Recycling Bins located throughout the community are for clothing only. Toys and other items are not
accepted, and anyone caught placing such items outside the bins can be issued a summons for littering. These items can
be taken to a consignment shop, donated to organizations such as the Salvation Army, or put out for regular garbage
pick up.  Anyone caught placing such items outside the bins can be issued a summons for littering.
