INDEPENDENT SPORTS GROUPS AND ORGANIZATIONS

  
The organizations listed below make up the backbone of sports and recreation in the Township of Jefferson. They are partially funded by Jefferson Township and depend on Township and Board of Education facilities to run their programs.

  • JEFFERSON BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION (JBA)  
    • In-town programs are offered for Kindergarten through 10th grade levels
    • Travel programs are offered for 4th through 8th grade levels

    • In-person registration dates at Camp Jefferson, 81 Weldon Road for the  2010-2011 basketball season for all travel and recreation players:   Monday  9/13,  Friday 9/17,  Tuesday 9/21, and Thursday 9/23 from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm

GIRLS’ TRAVEL BASKETBALL
Offers highly competitive girls’ basketball for youngsters in Grades 5 thru 8.  League play consists of towns in Northern N.J.

BOYS' TRAVEL BASKETBALL
Offers a highly competitive league for boys in Grades 5 thru 8.   Competition is with towns in Northern NJ.

  • JEFFERSON YOUTH SOCCER ASSOCIATION 

    • Sponsors in-town soccer during the Fall season for children in grades K through 8.  Travel teams are also sponsored in the Fall and Spring for children in grades 3 through 8.  Summer soccer  camps are also offered.  For Fall 2010 early registration discount if registered and paid by June 1st - Travel tryouts take place June 5th.

  • JEFFERSON YOUTH ROLLER HOCKEY LEAGUE  
    • The Jefferson Youth Roller Hockey League is for boys and girls, ages 5 (instructional) through 17/18 (varsity) and runs from May through the end of August.  Two rinks are located at our Ridge Road Recreation complex with a third rink located at Lakeside Field.

  • JEFFERSON CERBO LEAGUE BASEBALL (Jefferson Lightning)
    • Program offers advanced baseball competition for boys at the 9-U, 10-U, and 12-U levels.  A youth travel baseball program, it is made up of players from Jefferson Township.  They work with the township's recreation program to help players develop skills and an appreciation for basebll that will help prepare them for play at the high school level or beyond.

  • JEFFERSON GIRLS' SOFTBALL LEAGUE
    • This in-town program offers girls Instructional, T-Ball, Minor, Major, and Senior League play.

    • Adult participation is being sought for Girls' Softball.  Positions available include Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Parent, and Team Sponsors.   Other parent participation jobs include help with Picture Day, End of Year Picnic, Equipment, Kennedy Field Concession Stand, Fundraising, and Uniforms.

 

  • JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP YOUTH ICE HOCKEY
    • The League provides opportunities for youngsters ages 7 and 14 to play ice hockey.  There are four separate levels of paly based on age and the season runs from November through March.

    • Meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at Camp Jefferson, 81 Weldon Road. 
    • Games and practice ice is currently held at Skylands and Mennen Arena. 

 

 

  • JEFERSON YOUTH WRESTLING ASSOCATION  
    • This league provides opportunities for youngsters to enjoy wrestling from the Clinic level through 8th grade.

  • JEFFERSON YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE
    • Jefferson Youth Football offers leagues from Clinic and Pee Wee through Varsity (7th &8th grade).  Practice begins in August with some home games played under the lights at Lakeside Field.

  • JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP RECREATION CHEERLEADING ASSOCIATION
    • This program offers girls the opportunity to take part in cheering both on the in-town level and in competition.  This is a Fall sport activity for 1st through 8th graders

    • The Association meets the second Monday of every month in the Jefferson Township Public Library's Riker Room at  7:30 PM from January to June and at 8:30 PM from July to November.  No meetings held in December.

  • MEN'S SOFTBALL LEAGUE
    • A league for men 18 years of age and older who play on weeknights.

  • FIREMEN'S SOFTBALL LEAGUE
    • Through Jefferson Township Fire Company No. 2 in Lake Hopatcong
    • Volunteer Jefferson Township firefighters participate in this league and enjoy  the competition against other area fire companies.
