Spring Sport Squirts for 3-5 year olds returns !
The Jefferson Township Recreation Department in association with the US Sports Institute is once again offering the opportunity to introduce pre-schoolers to several different sports in a positive, low-pressure educational environment beginning in April with seven one-hour weekly sessions at three convenient township locations with three different time frames to chose from.
The Spring Sports Squirts program will be held at Lakeside Field on Route 15 South and Bowling Green Parkway (behind the Dunkin Donuts) in Lake Hopatcong from 9 to 10 AM for seven consecutive weeks beginning on Monday, April 19 and ending on Monday, June 7, 2010.
A second session will be held Jefferson Township’s Chamberlain Field on Chamberlain Road (off Berkshire Valley Road in the Waters Edge development) in Milton/Oak Ridge from 10:45 to 11:45 AM for seven consecutive weeks beginning on Monday, April 19 and ending on Monday, June 7, 2010.
The same program will also be held at Camp Jefferson located at 81 Weldon Road in Lake Hopatcong from 4 to 5 PM for the same seven consecutive weeks beginning on Monday, April 19 and ending on Monday, June 7, 2010.
There are no classes on Monday, May 31 (Memorial Day); and, if necessary, USSI will schedule make-up classes after the last scheduled session.
The cost of the entire program is $115 per child (the same price as the past two years!); and registration forms will be distributed to township day care centers, nursery schools, and kindergarten students in the Jefferson Township school district. However, you can call the US Sports Institute Information Line directly at 866-345-BALL or visit their website at www.UssportsInstitute.com now for more information about their program. Registrations are handled directly through the Institute either by mail, telephone, or online. The Jefferson Township Recreation Department would be happy to mail you a registration form by calling 973-663-8404.
Sports Squirts is a great way to introduce children ages 3 to 5 to soccer, basketball, T-ball, lacrosse, hockey, and parachute in a safe, structured environment. All sports are developed through a series of games and activities designed to ensure learning and most importantly fun! Hand/eye coordination, balance, agility, motor skills, and movement – all key factors to the early development of children in sports – are incorporated in all sessions. In addition to having a great time, children will develop social interaction and communication skills.
