Pre-Schoolers will be introduced to several sports during Fall Sports Squirts

This Fall, the Jefferson Township Recreation Department in conjunction with the US Sports Institute is offering a unique experience for children ages 3 to 5.  USSI will provide the opportunity for pre-schoolers to experience a multitude of sports in a positive, low-pressure educational environment on Tuesdays beginning on September 28 and running through November 2.

The 2010 Fall Sports Squirts program will be held in two Jefferson Township locations with two different sessions at each location – at Chamberlain Field, 48 Chamberlain Road in the Milton/Oak Ridge section in the Waters’ Edge development (off Berkshire Valley Road) from 10:45 to 11:45 am and a second session from 1:30 to 2:30 PM.  The same program will be held at Lakeside Field, 15 Swan Lane located off Route 15 South in Lake Hopatcong (behind the Dunkin’ Donuts) from 9 AM to 10 AM with a second session from 4 to 5 PM.

The cost of the entire program is $115 per child; and registration forms will be distributed through the Jefferson Township school district.  All registrations are done directly through the US Sports Institute either online at www.UssportsInstitute.com, by phone at 866-345-BALL, or by mail to US Sports Institute, 12 Maiden Lane – Suite 3, Bound Brook, NJ  08805.  You can call the Jefferson Township Recreation Office at 973-663-8404 to have a registration mailed to you or pick one up at the Recreation Office at Camp Jefferson or from the display racks in the Municipal Building or the Public Library.

Sports Squirts is a great way to introduce children ages 3 to 5 to such sports as soccer, T-ball, basketball, lacrosse, and hockey.  The sessions take place in a safe, structured environment and sports are played through a series of games and activities designed to ensure learning and most importantly fun. Participants only need to bring a willingness to learn, plenty to drink, and most importantly a smile.  It is recommended that appropriate clothing for sporting activities and sneakers be worn.
