New Karate classes begin in November at  Camp Jefferson

The Jefferson Township Recreation Department’s Karate Program will begin its 5-week session on Monday, November 19, 2018 and continue through Monday, December 17, 2018, closing out the year.  The program is open to school age children ages Kindergarten and up as well as adults.

This on-going program has been running for 12 years through the Recreation Department with instructors from the Jersey Judo Karate Academy of Kenvil teaching the Isshinryu style of Karate.  The skills learned help students develop coordination, balance, posture, and endurance. Students also gain self-confidence and discipline through progression in karate, while studying the authentic form of Asian Martial Arts. Jersey Judo Karate Academy is run by Sensei Rick Norris, a Kudan (9th degree black belt), and the Academy’s staff includes over 50 certified, fully trained black belts. 

Classes are held in the Community Lodge at Camp Jefferson on Weldon Road at 6:30 to 7:30 pm for grades K- The program fee is $27.50 per person with a discount of $10 per person for the second, third, etc. sibling enrolled.

The Jefferson Township Recreation Department is now exclusively using an online registration system through Community Pass. Log on to http://www.communitypass.net, the community/organization is Jefferson Township, and if you already have a Community Pass account, enter your log in and password, choose the activity under the season “Winter 2018”, register and pay the class fee.  If you forgot your log in or password, the system allows you to recover your log in using your email address and reset your password or call the Recreation Department for a temporary password.

If you need to set up a Community Pass account, a parent  can easily follow the prompts to set up a personal account in his/her name as an adult; and then add the child to the account, register the child for Karate, and pay for this activity.  You will automatically receive an email confirmation after you register and make your payment.

FULL payment must be received NO LATER than 3 business dates after registration is completed. FULL payment can be made online at checkout with a MC, VISA, or Discover credit card subject to a 2.65% bank convenience fee.  Or you can choose to “Send Payment” at check out and drop off a check, cash, or money order to the Recreation Dept. office at Camp Jefferson.  Or you can mail a check to the Camp office postmarked within 3 business days of registration, but do not mail cash. 

IF FULL PAYMENT IS NOT RECEIVED IN THE CAMP OFFICEWITHIN 3 BUSINESS DAYS OF REGISTRATION, YOUR REGISTRATION FACES CANCELLATION AND YOU/YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND KARATE CLASS.

Karate participants must be registered and the class fee paid in full BEFORE attending the first class on November 19.  A late registration fee will take effect as of November 26.

Adult Exercise Programs for the FALL 2018 season

The 2018 FALL Beginner Yoga Class session will begin on Wednesday, September 12 and end on December 19 starting at 7:30 to 8:30 pm for a 14-week session (NO class on November 21).  Students will be instructed in one of the oldest styles of yoga -- the Hatha style by certified instructor Linda Mangan. Learn yoga postures, principles of safe alignment, and breathing technique -- open to new beginners, those with limited yoga experience, or anyone just wanting to take it slow and steady. While doing these gentle poses, you’ll naturally increase flexibility, release tension, and build mental clarity. All classes will be held in the Jefferson Township Middle School Cafeteria (can be moved to the gym at the discretion of the school that day), 1000 Weldon Road, Oak Ridge for $49 per person. There is a minimum of 15 persons per class with a maximum of 30 for each yoga session. All students should bring a yoga mat, yoga blocks (optional), and a bottle of water to each session.

The 2018 FALL  Intermediate Yoga Class session will begin on Thursday, September 13 and end on December 20 starting at 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm for a 12-week session (NO classes on September 27, November 8 and 22).  Students will be instructed in one of the oldest styles of yoga -- the Hatha style by certified instructor Linda Mangan. A comprehensive, balanced class with a steady and relaxed flow will be offered in this Intermediate Class is held in the Jefferson Township Middle School Cafeteria (can be moved to the gym at the discretion of the school that day – we know that the May 3 and 24 and the June 7 classes have already been moved to the gym), 1000 Weldon Road, Oak Ridge at $42 per person. Explore traditional yoga postures with basic to challenging options, and emphasis on safe alignment, breath, meditation, and guided relaxation techniques.   There is a minimum of 15 persons per class with a maximum of 30 for each yoga session. All students should bring a yoga mat, yoga blocks (optional), and a bottle of water to each session.

The 2018 FALL CHAIR YOGA program will begin on Wednesday, September 12 and end on December 19 starting at 6 to 7 pm for a 11-week session (NO classes on October 17, October 31, November 21, and December 12)Students will be instructed by certified instructor Linda Mangan in this very gentle class in the Camp Jefferson Community Lodge, 81 Weldon Road, Lake Hopatcong for $38.50 per person. Learn modified yoga postures incorporating the same principles as a full yoga class but seated in a chair focusing on breathing techniques and stress management tools such as meditation and deep relaxation. 

The CORE 2018 FALL session is a high energy, low-impact adult strength training exercise program. A 14-week session begins on Tuesday, September 11 from 7 to 7:45 pm continuing on consecutive Tuesdays with the last class on December 18 (NO class on November 27).  Classes are in the Jefferson Township Middle School Cafeteria (can be moved to the gym at the discretion of the school that night), 1000 Weldon Road, Oak Ridge, and the class fee is $49. Taught by Certified Personal Trainer, Pilates Instructor, Yoga Teacher, Indoor Cycling, Golden Hearts Instructor Jill Carlson, this strength class will help you gain an understanding of flexibility, balance, coordination and not only isolated exercise but a concentration on functional exercise, which not only builds strength but makes it easier to carry out your everyday daily activities. Jill’s challenge will change you! A minimum of 15 people/maximum of 30 people is required to run each class. Participants should bring a bottle of water, a challenging set of hand weights, and a mat or large towel for the floor exercises.      

The 2018 FALL ZUMBA® classes will begin on Thursday, September 13 and end on December 20 from 6:15 to 7 pm with 12 sessions (NO classes on September 27, November 8 and 22) .  Classes are held in the Jefferson Township Middle School cafeteria (but can be moved to the gym at the discretion of the school that night – we know that the May 3 and 24 and the June 7 classes have already been moved to the gym), 1000 Weldon Road, Milton/Oak Ridge, NJ for $42 per person. The class is taught by Certified Zumba® Fitness Instructor Yesenia Centeno. Zumba® takes the "work" out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. The Latin and World rhythms take over – it’s exercise in disguise! Zumba® is a total workout, combining all elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy and a serious dose of awesome each time you attend a class. There is a minimum of 15 persons per class with a maximum of 30; and all students should wear comfortable clothing and bring a bottle of water to each session.  

This 2018 FALL  CARDIO KICKBOXING session will begin on Wednesday, September 12 starting at 7:30 until 8:15 pm and run for 11 weeks ending on December 19 (NO classes on October 17, October 31, November 21, and December 12) in The Community Lodge at Camp Jefferson, 81 Weldon Road, Lake Hopatcong. This high-energy class features cardio kickboxing combos and body-sculpting dance moves choreographed to the hottest music mixes. It really is the ultimate cardio kickboxing party! It’s also a great way to create a strong community of support, camaraderie, and fitness breakthroughs. This class will be taught by Sarah Langan, a health, fitness and nutrition coach with a certified personal trainer certificate. She is a full-time special education teacher in Paterson, loves to craft and assist brides on their wedding day, and a new mom. The FALL session fee will be $38.50 per person. The minimum class size is 15 with a maximum class size of 30. Participants should bring a bottle of water and a towel to each class.

The 2018 FALL  PiYo exercise class session will begin on Tuesday, September 11 starting at 8 pm until 8:45 pm and run for 14 weeks ending on December 18 (NO class on September 25).   Classes held in The Jefferson Township Middle School Cafeteria (can be moved to the gym at the discretion of the school that night), 1000 Weldon Road, Oak Ridge. The session fee will be $49 per person. Come sweat, stretch and strengthen with this all in one workout that is a low impact, high-intensity fusion of Pilates and Yoga by Sarah Langan, the minimum class size is 15 with a maximum class size of 35. Participants should bring a mat, a bottle of water and a towel to each class, shoes are optional.  

The 2018 FALL TURBO KICK STRENGTH exercise class beginning on Tuesday, September 11 and ending on December 18 running for 12 weeks starting at 6 pm until 6:45 pm (NO class on September 25, October 2, and October 16).  Classes will be held in The Community Lodge at Camp Jefferson, 81 Weldon Road, Lake Hopatcong and this class will be taught by Sarah Langan. The minimum class size is 15 with a maximum class size of 30, and the session fee will be $42 per person.  This class is similar to cardio kick boxing but there is a strength portion added using body weight - use your body to shape your body. Participants should bring a bottle of water and a towel to each class.

REGISTRATION IS ONLINE

Log on to https://register.communitypass.net/reg/index.cfm and if you already have an existing account, sign in or follow the prompts to set up your own personal account through the Jefferson Township community.  In either case, chose “SUMMER-FALL 2018” season to register for any of these exercise classes.

As with any online shopping site, everything in your cart is payable immediately.  Full payment of all items in your shopping cart can be made online at checkout with a MC, VISA, or Discover credit card subject to a 2.65% bank convenience fee.  However, you can choose to “Send Payment” at checkout and then drop off a check, cash, or money order to the JT Recreation Dept. office at Camp Jefferson, 81 Weldon Road, Lake Hopatcong,NJ 07849 within 3 business days.  Or you can mail a check to the office postmarked the day of your registration or the next business day so the office receives your payment within 3 business days of registration -- do not mail cash. If full payment is not received in the office within 3 business days of registration, your registration can be cancelled.
