Skate & Youth Hockey Lessons

Jefferson Township Recreation is partnering with Skylands Ice World to offer a Learn to Skate program and entry level Youth Hockey lessons at the following location:

Stockholm, NJ

The entry level Youth Hockey lesson program will consist of 10 weeks of fast-paced hockey action coached by Patrick Choules, Skylands Ice World's Hockey Director. The session will start on Monday, November 18, 2019 and run through Monday, February 3 from 6:10 to 7:10 pm (no class on December 23 and December 30). The registration session cost is $170 with a $10 discount for early registration two days prior to the start date. A very limited supply of hockey equipment is available for loan, skates and helmets are available for rent. Dress for a winter outdoor activity.

Learn to Skate

The Learn to Skate program will consist of 10 weeks of ice skating instruction coached by Skylands Skating Academy Director Kim Sutton-Murphy. Both coaches have very extensive backgrounds and have excelled at every level and know what it takes to get to the next level.


Session options are:

  • December 4 through February 19
    6:30 to 7:30 pm
  • December 6 through February 21
    6:20 to 7:20 pm
  • Pre-school
    December 6 through February 21
    1:30 to 2:30 pm
  • December 7 through February 22
    12:30 to 1:30 pm
    (no classes on December 25 and January 1)

Class Details

Session includes 30 minutes of ice group instruction followed by 30 minutes of practice time. If registered two days prior to the start date, the 10-week program cost is $167; otherwise the cost is $177. Helmets and skates are available for rent, and U.S. Figure Skating membership is required annually and included. Dress for a winter outdoor activity.
