Gingerbread House Contest Deadline

Friday, December 4, 2020

The Jefferson Arts Committee is sponsoring their annual Gingerbread House Contest Virtually this year!

The celebration of the upcoming holiday season will indeed be a unique one this year.  Like so many other events being canceled due to the current Covid-19 restrictions in place, the 15th annual Christmas in the Village celebration has been canceled.  However, the annual Gingerbread House contest sponsored each year by the Jefferson Arts Committee during this event will be held virtually this year.

The 2020 theme of the Gingerbread House Contest will be "Home for Christmas" with five age divisions: 4-5 / 6-8 / 9-12 / 13-16 / 17-adult.  Medals/Ribbons will be awarded for First, Second, and Third places and Honorable Mention in each category.

Those wishing to submit a contest entry will submit photo entries of their creations along with an entry form and a $5 fee (to cover the cost of prize medals).  Entries must be received by Friday December 4th and will be limited to the first 30 sets of photos with a matching entry form and entry fee.  Judging will be based on use of different edible materials, creativity, originality, and following the theme.

The winning contest photo entries will be on public display at the Jefferson Township Public Library and will be announced and posted on the Jefferson Arts Committee’s website and Facebook page, and other local Facebook group pages.  In addition, The Jefferson Chronicle has agreed to be the JAC’s media partner and publish the winning entries in its online news vehicle.

Please refer to the official flyer/entry form and detailed information sheet available on the JAC’s website or email for this information.

Hopefully, this virtual contest brings the community some joy and excitement this holiday season giving both children and adults the opportunity to be creative in designing and decorating their very own gingerbread house to enjoy.
